Resort Style: How to Style a White Lace Dress

0

There’s nothing like a much-needed vacation, where your only plan is to relax, sip cocktails, and dance the night away in a little white dress. Because no matter where you’re going, your outfit will make a vacation statement and you want your look in the pictures to be amazing. No dress is complete without the right accessories and shoes.

If you’ve found the perfect white lace dress, and plan for your dress to be your main attraction, we’ve come up with some tips on how to style it!

Wearing your dress in the right weather

Before you finish packing, check the weather and keep checking up until the day of your vacation. Do it not only to make sure your travel plans stay intact, but so you can pack for changes in weather. Most times, if you’re going to experience Florida’s Gulf Coast and it’s anytime after March, it should be warm enough for you to sport your dress comfortably. If your dress is long and flowy, then consider pairing it with a nice pair of gold gladiator sandals or even strappy kitten heels that offer a pop of color.

If your vacation is in Maine around August, when the weather might be a little cooler in the evening. Consider going with a heel instead of a sandal, and add a light shawl that drapes over your shoulders and keeps them warm if you happen to be enjoying drinks outdoors.

The perfect occasion

When deciding when to pull out your white lace dress, it goes beyond simply the dress — you have to accessorize. Whether your dress is knee-length or down past your calf, a nice gold ankle bracelet can add character to your look. It’s not a piece of jewelry that comes around as much, but it still manages to add some flair to your lower leg. Less is more, so adding a simple necklace and a few gold bangles is all you really need. If your dress has a deep neckline, finding a necklace with a long chain that accentuates the dress shape will always make a nice statement. This look is perfect for a special night out on the town in a new city or for an evening of dinner and dancing.

The best color addition

So now that you’ve settled on the lacy, white dress of your choice, you are faced with the task of finding the perfect color pairing with it. Most times it’s a color most people don’t even consider, but the color brown is actually the perfect basic color to pair with white. It’s a neutral color and doesn’t add anything bright, but offers a nice color flow that will always work.

Because your main outfit is white, if you want to go with a brighter color, you have some wiggle room, but you don’t want to overshadow your white dress by adding a lot of unnecessary attraction to your other pieces (unless they are too amazing to not pair with your dress).

Adding a nice red heel or even a black heel can do the trick of adding another color to your outfit. But stay away from adding multi-colored shoes. Matching your handbag or clutch to the color of your shoes will tie in your color choice. Add some makeup and a few pieces of jewelry of your choice and your resort-style look for the evening is complete.

When it comes to having the look you desire, time is key. Find the pieces that you know will compliment the look you’re going for. Have multiple ideas for each look. For instance, your white dress should have about three accessory choices and colors that you could choose from. That way, when it comes down to what you might wear one evening, you’ve already got more than one look option for your favorite dress.
