0

There are many beautiful Tokyo sites worth seeing. Learn about these four that justify the trip and that everyone should see at least once!

Japan’s borders may be closed right now, but that only gives future travelers more opportunity to research more about the best Tokyo sites the city has to offer.

Tokyo is an incredible, bustling region of over 13 million people. It’s not only a city, but an entire prefecture of Japan. It stretches from the waters of the Tokyo Bay, through the huge, sprawling city, all the way to the mountains. There is a wide range of activities that take place throughout its 2,188 km area.

To find out more about the best sites in Toyko, check out the information below.

  1. Temple Hopping

There are countless places of worship throughout Tokyo. These may be either Buddhist temples or Shinto shrines. They have iconic architecture and convey feelings of order and peace.

Those who admire these religious practices and their iconography should take the time to visit as many as possible throughout the city. It’s also a good idea to purchase a goshuincho — a small booklet where visitors can record the unique seal of each temple for a small fee.

  1. Museum Hopping

Japan has some amazing museums unlike any others in the world. They showcase the unique and beautiful aspects of Japanese culture that you can only experience in Japan. In Tokyo, these include the Mori Building Digital Art Museum, the Ghibli Museum, and the Yayoi Kusama Museum.

The only downside to museum-hopping in Japan is that you have to be well-planned. Unlike other countries, you can’t just show up at the door and pay for a ticket. Instead, you have to reserve a timeslot and purchase your tickets online, in advance. For some museums, like Ghibli, you may have to order months in advance.

  1. Golden Gai

Adult travelers looking for a good time should look no farther than the Golden Gai in the streets of Shinjuku. This area features traditional, narrow Japanese alleys cramped with endless bars.

Most of these bars are tiny, only seating a few people at a time. You can find carefully crafted cocktails by the most professional bartenders you’ve ever seen. It’s an adventure exclusive to Japan.

  1. Sanrio Puroland

There are some interesting theme parks in Japan. One of the most recognizable is Sanrio Puroland. This park is home to all of the cutest Sanrio characters created from the Japanese imagination, including Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, My Melody, and Little Twin Stars.

Sanrio Puroland tickets cost between $20-40 depending on your age and the time you enter the park. Although it may seem like a haven for children, couples also find it a cute place to spend time together. Don’t forget about all the cute pictures you can take!

This is not an exhaustive list of all the Tokyo sites worth seeing. It would be easy to write thousands of words about the food worth eating in Tokyo alone. Now that people throughout the world have some time at home, it’s the perfect time to learn more about Japan and its wonders.
